Scottish mezzo soprano Sandra Porter is an experienced and versatile singer. In her longstanding recital partnership with pianist Graeme McNaught, she has commissioned, recorded and broadcast for BBC Radio 3 and Radio Scotland, enjoying the challenge of continually exploring new and varied repertoire. In concert Sandra has been a soloist in the UK and abroad in Milan, Tokyo, Beijing and Germany including performances with Symphony of Harmony and Invention,Chamber Group of Scotland, Scottish Sinfonia, Sentieri selvaggi, Telemann Ensemble, Nonesuch Orchestra, International Festival Choir and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. An accomplished opera singer and actress and at home in both the comic and dramatic, Sandra now specializes particularly in character roles including Marcellina (The Marriage of Figaro), Governess (Queen of Spades), Ericlea (The Return of Ulysses), Ino (Semele), Swiss Grandmother (The Death of Klinghoffer) and Mrs McLean (Susannah) at English National Opera, London Early Opera and English Touring Opera. She has also sung Suzuki in Madame Butterfly at Iford Arts, Annina in La Traviata at Iford Arts and Opera Holland Park, Filipyevna in Eugene Onegin and Berta in Barber of Seville at Stanley Hall, The Witch in Hansel and Gretel at Buxton, Juno in Semele at Buxton, Storge in Jeptha and The Mother in Der Jasager at Grimebourne. Martha in Faust, Lucia in Cavalleria Rusticana and Katisha in Mikado at Cork Opera House. |
